Biorender- a game-changer for creating scientific images

I found out about this resource from my students! For one of their assignments, they had to create a video to highlight their understanding of the interconnectedness of elements of inflammation. As I was watching the videos, I couldn't help but notice that some of the students had incredibly beautiful illustrations that were also accurate.

Biorender was developed by a higher education institution to facilitate the communication and representation of science by creating professional icons that can be used to create beautiful images. For my students in their science undergraduate degrees, this has been an awesome resource to help them both visualize and share their understanding of complex material. In my experience, students will frequently use and modify illustrations from primary literature/review papers to share their understanding. However, these illustrations often contain information/content that is not applicable to their use or overly complex. Thus, Biorender helps me help my students by employing TPCK and directing them to a resource that can help them illustrate their complex ideas.

If you haven't tried it out yet, I encourage you to give it a shot. It is free (though there are upgrades available as well) and I think this resource could also be useful for advanced level highschool biology as well.
